Hillcrest Kids opens at 7:15 a.m. and closes at 5:45 p.m. Here is what a typical day might look like at our school (Please note that each class has a slightly different schedule when it comes to outdoor, running room and meal times):
7:15 – 7:55
Welcome friends and free play in the designated classrooms, separated by age group.
7:55 – 8:10
Breakfast is served to those who want to eat. Groups are dismissed to breakfast by age group and enjoy a mealtime with friends and teachers. Last plate goes out at 8:10 a.m. and kids can eat until 8:30 a.m.
8:30 – 11:00
Early learning time in the classroom, outside, running room and so much more. Field trips to the park, on the local trails, fire department and even to the local grocery store might happen periodically during this time. This is the most important time of the day as art, science, music, and all other areas of early learning are happening this time of day.
11:00 – 12:00
Lunch schedules begin. Each group is scheduled a certain time to come and eat as a class. We serve nutritious meals in an environment that encourages social interaction and learning good table manners. We sing a prayer together before each meal too.
12:00 – 2:00
Nap and rest time. We have separate rooms for children who need to sleep and for those who might leave or arrive midday and/or don’t need a nap. Our morning schedule ends and afternoon schedule begins at 12:30 for those children scheduled half day.
2:00 – 5:45
Afternoon staff arrive and begin a similar routine as the morning in regards to rich learning activities to promote early learning. Each class also has a scheduled time for an afternoon snack. At 5:45 we say goodbye and see you tomorrow!
